Perera's work oscillates between the vertical and horizontal plane, liberating glazed wall hung artwork to a publicly accessible space to be handled and touched, sometimes inviting the viewer to alter the artwork-which allows the final editorial control of the piece to be shared. Her work invariably exploits her background in Medicine and Science, toying with size, scale, shape and style. She combines traditional and digital techniques, attempting to merge the unique with the multiple, creating “unique multiples” through slight variations on the theme.
